Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

"The school has a deep and accurate understanding of children with complex needs. Children with SEND receive effective support to succeed across all areas of learning."  Ofsted July 2024

    What is ‘SEND’?

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and/or disability. As part of the Plymouth Nursery Schools Federation, we believe at Plym Bridge that all children should have the opportunity to grow in self-esteem and develop towards their full potential.

We value all children no matter what their gender, race, religion, creed or ability. We aim to provide the highest quality of education and care for all the children who attend Plym Bridge at whatever age or developmental stage they may be at. Many children develop without any need for additional support from home or school and thrive in our nursery provisions.

There will be some children, however, who, for whatever reason, may require additional support and help. At Plym Bridge, we believe that by recognising this and working together with families we can help to ensure that these children's needs are met early, giving them the best possible chance to make progress and be fulfilled. Often, early help and support is all children need to ensure they thrive. However, sometimes children will need ongoing support as they move through their education and life. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to help all children and work together with families, other professionals and, later, schools to ensure the best for every child.
